Zumba GOLD is perfect for baby boomers or those just starting their journey into fitness, as it takes the zumba formula and adapts it to have a lower-impact workout that's just as much fun and calorie-burning as the regular Zumba workout.
Zumba Gold® (Low Impact for Beginners)
Perfect for beginners and folks over 50…this is a “kinder, gentler Zumba®.” Laugh! Dance! Love your Body! With no need to be perfect, this feels joyous…like dancing in your living room with all your “crazy” friends! Can’t resist a great dance beat? You’ll LOVE the variety… from 40’s swing and 50’s rock-n-roll to Latin rhythms like Cha-cha and Salsa. Easier than learning to waltz, you’ll soon forget your feet, lose yourself in the music and leave feeling happy and energized! Low impact, moderate intensity and easy to learn, this class is about having fun and making friends!
Zumba Gold® is a great choice for active adults ages 40-75. Also, it can be a “baby-step” for those who have never danced…or anyone who had become “deconditioned” - perhaps due to pregnancy or an injury. If you have ever enjoyed any kind of dance in your life…ballet, tap, swing, ballroom, folk dance, country line dance or Jazzersize…you’ll pick this up in no time!
Is Zumba Gold® different than regular Zumba®? Yes, quite different! The moves are easier, the music is softer and the instructor faces the class, giving simple verbal cues so it’s very easy to follow along.
Class Format: 45 minutes of dance including: 10 min. warm-up, 20 min. moderate intensity aerobic dance, 10 min. cool-down and a 5 min. standing stretch.
Wear light-weight, comfortable clothes that move with you….and bring a water bottle! Court shoes, cross trainers or regular “sneakers” are best. (Avoid running shoes - they are designed for forward motion only).
